Useful information

Road network

On weekends, many locals go out on the island and the road networks quickly become saturated. At the end of the day, your return time to the village can quickly increase.

During the week, traffic jams are also not uncommon at the start of the day and at the end of the day.

Be patient to reach Fort-De-France and take the maritime shuttle to reach the “capital”. A single company, Vedettes Tropicales, connects the bay of Fort-de-France to Trois-Îlets (town, Pointe-du-Bout, Anse-Mitan, Anse-à-l'Âne).

To reach the northwest of the island (Saint-Pierre, Prêcheur), leave early. Although the kilometers are not high, it can take 2 hours to reach this destination.

To visit !

There is so much to see in Martinique that it is impossible to mention everything. We leave at your disposal 2 Routard guides that you can use during your stay. We simply ask that you think of future guests and leave them in the apartment when you leave. Thanks in advance.

La Savane des esclaves:

Witness, teach and preserve Martinique heritage and the history of Martinique.

Saint Pierre:

At the foot of Mount Pelée, the town was destroyed by a volcanic eruption in 1902. You can see charred remains there, including the Cyparis dungeon, one of the two survivors of the eruption.

Hike on Mount Pelée, a still active volcano.

Fort-De-France:

The large Fort-De-France covered market is the most beautiful market in Martinique. Take the opportunity to buy spices.

The Balata garden, the most beautiful botanical garden in Martinique.

The beaches:

Salines Cove - Saint Anne. Enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches and homemade ice cream.

L’Anse-Couleuvre — The Preacher. One of the wildest beaches in Martinique.

Anse Dufour and Anse-Noire — Les Anses-d’Arlet. Looking for turtles. Be careful not to touch them and maintain a distance from them.

L'Anse Caritan - Saint Anne. Body of water perfectly protected from offshore waves by the Sainte-Anne peninsula makes it a place particularly appreciated by parents and their young children.

L'Anse Michel - Saint Anne. Enjoy turquoise water popular with water sports and relax under a coconut grove.

The Coves of Arlet — Les Anses-d’Arlet. A postcard-like view of the church and breathtaking aquatic fauna (explore the large rock to the right, church in the back).

Diamond Beach - The diamond. Magnificent view point of Diamond Rock. Be careful of the current which can easily carry you out to sea. Caution!

To know !

The Manchineel

The Manchineel is a species of common tree that some might confuse with an apple tree as its fruits are so similar. It is considered by some to be the most dangerous tree in the world!!!

Both its fruit, its foliage, its trunk and its sap are toxic. If you are unfortunate enough to touch it, you risk very serious burns to your skin.

You should therefore not shelter under it during an episode of rain because the water becomes toxic on contact.

The fruit is even more dangerous since it causes swelling of the throat which can be fatal.

You must therefore be very vigilant, especially if you have children or animals.

On the outskirts of the village Pierre et Vacances, you can find manchineel trees along the beaches. They are usually marked with a red line in tourist areas.

However, the people of Martinique live with it, learning very early on the danger of this tree and we can see many walkers or runners passing under it in light rain, picnicking nearby.

be very careful but enjoy your trip.
